Actor Paul Rudd Honored with Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce proudly honored actor Paul Rudd with the 2,554th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. PDT. The star in the category of Motion Pictures will be dedicated in front of the El Capitan Theatre at 6834 Hollywood Boulevard. Event will be live-streamed exclusively on www.walkoffame.com

Helping emcee and to unveil the star were Hollywood Chamber President/CEO Leron Gubler and celebrity guest speakers Michael Douglas and Adam Scott.  “We are very happy to honor a man who has become one of the most familiar faces on film and television, and who has made us laugh along the way! We welcome him to our Walk of Fame family!” stated Leron Gubler.

Paul Rudd was born in Passaic, New Jersey but grew up primarily in Kansas City, MO.  He studied theater at the University of Kansas and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.  After graduating, he landed his first real acting job playing a recurring character on the TV show “Sisters.” But it wasn’t until he played the part of Josh in the movie “Clueless” that audiences thrust him into the category of ‘that guy’ actor. Soon after “Clueless,” he was recognized as ‘that guy’ in “The Cider House Rules,”“Romeo and Juliet” and several other indie films. As a New York resident, he also performed in several Broadway productions. Rudd worked steadily for many years, before being cast as Brian Fantana in the movie “Anchorman.”  That proved to be a seminal movie in Rudd’s career because it started not only a steady run of comedy hits, but also a transition from just being a "that guy" actor to ‘that guy' who does all those Judd Apatow movies.

Rudd will next be seen as the superhero character in Marvel’s highly anticipated “Ant-Man,” directed by Peyton Reed. The film also stars Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll, and will be released on July 17, in U.S. theaters. The film premiere was held in Hollywood on Monday, June 29.

Rudd recently finished filming Rob Burnett’s “The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving,” which is based on Jonathan Evison’s novel of the same name, opposite Selena Gomez and Craig Roberts.

In 2013, Rudd successfully reprised the role of Brian Fantana, starring once again opposite Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and David Koechner in Adam McKay’s “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” for Paramount Pictures.  “Anchorman 2” grossed over $170-million worldwide and received a People’s Choice Award nomination for Favorite Year End Movie, as well as two MTV Movie Award nominations. Rudd’s other film credits include such popular hit movies as “Knocked Up,” “This Is 40,” “Role Models,” “Wanderlust,” “ Our Idiot Brother,”  “I Love You, Man,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “The 40 Year Old Virgin,” “Clueless,” “Romeo + Juliet,” “Wet Hot American Summer,” “The Object of My Affection,” “They Came Together,” “Prince Avalanche,” “Admission,” “Monsters Vs. Aliens,” “The Ten,” “Night at the Museum,” and many others.

Rudd returned to the Broadway stage in Craig Wright’s “Grace,” starring opposite Michael Shannon, Kate Arrington, and Edward Asner. “Grace” was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Broadway Play and Rudd was nominated for a Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance Award. His other stage credits include starring opposite Julia Roberts and Bradley Cooper in Richard Greenberg’s Broadway production of “Three Days of Rain,” Neil LaBute’s “Bash” as well as LaBute’s “The Shape of Things.” Rudd made his West End debut in the London production of Robin Phillips’ “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” opposite Jessica Lange. Other Broadway credits include Nicholas Hynter’s “Twelfth Night” at Lincoln Center Theater with a special performance that aired on PBS’ “Great Performances,” and in Alfred Uhry’s Tony Award-winning play “The Last Night of Ballyhoo.”

On television, Rudd was the co-writer and co-creator of the critically-acclaimed series “Party Down” on Starz. He also garnered wide recognition with a recurring role on the TV sitcom “Friends” as Mike Hannigan.  Additionally, Rudd will reprise his role as Andy in David Wain’s “Wet Hot American Summer,” along with the original cast for an eight-episode limited television series based on the cult film. The series will air on Netflix in July of 2015.

Rudd is involved with Big Slick/Children’s Mercy Hospital, Say, Project ALS, the Adrienne Shelly Foundation and the American Cancer Society charities.
